CHECKING IN
CONCEPT
As part of my senior capstone final project, I was named the gallery curator. Through this position, I lead the collateral team which took on the task of how to take our overarching theme of "hotel" into a three-dimensional space. Exploring the best way to interact with visitors and represent everyone's unique project in a cohesive and aesthetically pleasing way.
"A hotel is a place of congregation. Here people from all walks of life are co-mingled together. When we open up our doors to one another we are able to learn and grow."
"That is why our number one policy is an open-door policy"

ROOM KEYS
To continue the hotel theme we have related each of the individual senior projects to a room of a grand hotel. With the goal that gallery visitors would feel welcome to explore and interact with each "room" of the hotel. To help push this idea and to create a home away from home experience the keys were used to create a visual representation of gaining access to each student's project.
These are brass keys that have an attached wooden key tag displaying each student's individual project logo.
PROJECT BROCHURES
To further push the hotel experience and to represent more unique elements of each student's projects the gallery also includes a display of brochures similar to those advertising activities and attractions in traditional hotels. This was an interactive way for visitors to learn about each project in a quick visual summary. These were thought of as a physical branding guide that the everyday viewer could understand.
These summary brochure cards feature information such as each project's logo, slogan, color scheme, and other information that would be most important for visitors to know about a project.
MAILROOM
Rate your stay. Invites visitors to write a letter about the project that made the most impact on them. This allowed the viewers to take time to reflect on the exhibit and for the students to take away mementos of how their projects directly affected the people who had the opportunity to view them. To fully complete the experience of a hotel this space was decorated with a checkout desk, guest book, service phone, bellhop bell, stationery set, and mailroom wall.
